Painted-On Smiles

More Than Enough

Copyright 2005.

Well, this song was written, as you can tell, for my wonderful wife Rebecca. Without her, I would not be where I am today.

Just like the Proverbs 31 woman, she is deserving of my praise. And I try to give it to her when I can.

She wears many hats:
She's the Homeschool Teacher and Administrator
She's the Babysitter and general Cleaning Crew
Part time nurse, vet, and horticulturist
She's the family chauffer and soccer mom.
She's the Band Cheerleader.
She's the family tax accountant.
She's the family cook.

The list could go on, but I haven't the room to put it all.

As Genesis tells us, your spouse is joined to you as one flesh. Your dreams, hopes, and futures are hopelessly intertwined. This bond is not easily broken, and hurts everyone when these ties are cut.

Solomon told us that a 'three-fold cord is not quickly broken'. If you and your spouse are considering divorce, consider the third person involved in this. Seek His guidance first. If you or your children are in danger, I am not advocating remaining there. But with God's help, all things are possible.

Comments on the lyrics below:
Yes, it was raining the day we got married.
When the two of you become 'one flesh', the 'I' and 'me' is intended to disappear into a 'we' that is stronger and can stand against the storms of this life.

Lyrics

Verse 1:
It wasn't Christmas
Not my Birthday
But you gave to me a ring
And gave yourself away
You made a promise
Became my wife
To show the greatness of
Your love for me
You gave to me
Your Life.
Been many Years
Since that fine day
Though it was raining on the outside
It was a glorious day
I disappeared
Without a trace
Like the Cheshire cat, all that
Was left was the grin on my face!

Chorus:
No longer I! No longer me!
Together you and I have found
That we are more than enough
To face this world
Full of strife
As long as breath is in me
I will be here
Giving you back
My life!

Verse 2:
He set His crown aside
Got off His throne
And set His robe aside
And bled and died
Rejected, alone.
But it's not over now.
It didn't end.
The stone was rolled away
On that third day
And He rose again!
So many years ago,
Like yesterday,
The light He brought into
This world broke through
The darkness in me!
I disappeared
Without a clue
The only thing I understood
Was He was leading
Me too.

Chorus:
No longer I! No longer me!
Together He and I have found
That We are more than enough
To face this world
Full of strife!
As long as breath is in me,
I will be here
Giving Him back
My life!

Verse 3:
A threefold cord are we
The ties that bind,
Our lives and dreams are wrapped together,
Hopelessly intertwined.
For we are joined with Him
Through Storm and Strife
Who showed the greatness of
His love for us
By giving us
His life!

Chorus:
No longer I! No longer me!
Together you and I have found
That we are more than enough
To face this world
Full of strife
As long as breath is in me
I will be here
Giving you back
My life!
